Mezzo-soprano Sarah Fischer was born in Paris of a Polish Family and came to Montréal at the age of twelve or thirteen. Here she began vocal training, and in 1917 won the Strathcona Scholarship, enabling her to study at the Royal College of Music in London for three years. Between the wars she pursued a successful operatic and concert career. In 1940 she inaugurated the Sarah Fischer Concerts for young performers.

Jean-Baptiste Romuald Fiset was born on February 7, 1843, in Saint-Cuthbert, Lanaudiere Region, Quebec.

He was a Canadian physician and politician. He studied medicine at the Collège de Montréal and the Université Laval and opened his practice in Rimouski. In 1872, he was elected to the House of
Commons as a Liberal candidate and got re-elected again in 1874, 1878 and 1887. In 1897, he was appointed Senator for the Division of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, Quebec, a post he held until his death.

In 1869, he married Marie Florrine Aimée Plamondon (1848–1905). In 1911, he married Emilina Loranger (1856-1916). He died on January 5, 1917, in Rimouski, Quebec.

Fisher, Arthur M. (Arthur Maxwell), 1887-1917

Physician and surgeon Arthur Fisher was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, where he attended the Carleton County Grammar School, graduating in 1905. He then received a medical degree and after the outbreak of World War I was appointed to the Royal Army Medical Corps as a lieutenant in 1915, becoming attached to the 58th Field Company Royal Engineers based in Calais, France. He also served with the 56th Field Ambulance and was temporary captain in France when he was killed by a shell while trying to find a suitable place for an advanced dressing station. He was posthumously awarded the Order of St. Sava, 5th class, conferred by the King of Serbia. His name appears of the Carleton County war memorial.
