Frederick Charles Emberson was born on November 10, 1840, in Croydon, Surrey County, England.

He graduated from Wadham College of Oxford University in 1865. He immigrated to Canada where he worked as Headmaster of Ontario College. Later he became a professor of classics at the Bishop's College in Lennoxville, Quebec. He was an eccentric educator, writer, poet, and illustrator. He wrote the books "The Art of Teaching: A Manual for the Use of Teachers and School Commissioners" (1877), "How to Read Character" (1883), "Are We Immortal" (1895), "The Yarn of the Love Sick Parsee" (1897?), and "How to Be Happy: Introduction to Secrets of Joy" (18??).

In 1867, he married Clara H. Bartlett (1846–1875). He died in 1913 in Canada.
