Rufus Degranza Pease was born abt. 1825, in New York, USA.

He studied at Willoughby Medical College, Willoughby, Ohio (1843-1845), and became a physician, reformer, and anti-spiritualist. He was one of the founders of the National Association of Christians Opposed to Secret Societies and was their lecturer for several years. His medical interests included physiognomy and phrenology. He also founded and was editor of the Journal of Man (Philadelphia, Penn.). He was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

He died in 1890.

Edson Loy Pease was born on September 2, 1856, in Coteau-Landing, Quebec.

He was a successful banker who started at the Montreal branch of the Toronto-based Canadian Bank of Commerce as a clerk in 1875. In 1881, he was promoted to the inspectors’ department of the bank. As a progressive innovator of bank procedures, he started rising in his career, becoming a vice-president of the Royal Bank of Canada. In 1916, he became the president of the Canadian Bankers’ Association. At his death, he was a director of many companies, including the Ogilvie Flour Mills Co. Ltd. and the Abitibi Power and Paper Company.

In 1883, he married Diana Ann Rea. He died on December 29, 1930, in Nice, France.
