Nancy spent her infancy in Westmount before the family moved to Brockville, ON., where she attended Wall Street United Church Sunday School. Nancy attended McGill University's School of Physical and Occupational Therapy (SPOT) in 1954 and graduated in May 1957. Nancy worked as Science Librarian at McGill University in 1967, where she met Robert Earl Lemon. Nancy and Robert married in 1968 and had two children, Joanna (1969) and Mark (1971). Nancy and Robert divorced in 1990.

JR was born December 25, 1907. He married Dorothy Anne Scott in 1933. They have a daughter, Nancy Patricia Philips. From 1953-1972, the Philips lived at 4946 Grosvenor Ave., in Westmount, then in the 1940s, moved to 20 Sherwood Avenue in Brockville, ON. JR was president and vice president of Philips Cable limited, in Brockville Ontario and served as President of the OMEA of Ontario municipal electric company in the 1960s. JR Philips died September 13, 1991 and is buried on Mount Royal beside Dorothy Anne Scott.

Son of John Philips Sr. and Elizabeth Ritchie, John (Jack) Philips was Lieutenant Sergeant of the Second Special Service Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment of Infantry which was deployed in South Africa during the Boer War. Jack fought in South Africa from October 21, 1899 to the December 25, 1900 and later served in World War I in France. He was killed in action on September 20, 1917 at the 3rd Battle of Ypres, also known as the Battle of Menin Road.

John Philips Sr., son of John Philips was born August 26, 1838 in Port Glasgow, Scotland. While Port Glasgow is written on his tombstone, his legal documents claim he was born in Aberdeen. John was apprenticed as a carpenter and moved his way up in Walter Hood and Company (Shipbuilders) of Aberdeen for seven years. He completed his apprenticeship September 30, 1861, where he became the carpenter for the "Dunrobin Castle", for which he received discharge papers October 9, 1862. Following his service on a naval vessel "Sillistria', he signed onto the crew "of "Rubens" on March 4, 1865 for a voyage to the far east. This ship wrecked on the southern tip of Africa, where he was discharged in Cape Town on May 13, 1865. From October 1869 to May 1871, John sailed to Glasgow-Montreal on the "Lake Superior". Here, John Philips’ mariner papers show the addition of an "s" forming the official family name of "Philips". The master of the Lake Superior was Alexander Ritchie, whose niece was Elizabeth Ritchie (August 29th, 1847- Oct 20, 1922). John Philips married Elizabeth Ritchie in Montreal, 1870 and settled in Montreal. From 1872-1883 John was the superintendent of the Montreal Boy's Home. John and Elizabeth's house at 343 Lansdowne Ave. in Westmount was built in 1893, and the home was occupied continuously by his family from 1895 until May 1970. John died at home on September 8, 1913, aged 75 and is buried at Mount Royal. He was a member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

Son of John Philips Sr. and Elizabeth Ritchie, George "Poppa" was born on September 15, 1874. George marries Evangeline "Eva" Orman (August 22nd 1878 - 11 September 1951) on the 26 December, 1901. George and Eva had a Cottage on Bevan's Lake in the Laurentians, near Weir Quebec which they called "Hillywood". They lived at 6064 Ave Notre-Dame-de-Grace, in Notre-Dame-de-Grace (NDG), Montreal. George died August 13, 1956. He and Eva are buried at Mount Royal Cemetery (G4). Their children are John Richardson Philips, Arthur Philips and Mrs. Henry Williams.
