Eweretta Jane Auldjo Prentice was born c. 1830 in Montreal, Quebec. She was a granddaughter of the Hon. John Richardson (c.1754-1831), Montreal's leading businessman and politician in his time. In 1856, she married Edward Alexander Prentice (1832–1886), an investment banker and financial agent. They had two daughters and a son. One of the daughters, Eweretta Lawrence Prentice (1859-1952), the stage name Miss Lawrence after the River St. Lawrence, was a famous actress, producer, and theatre manager in London, England.

She died in October 1898, in London, England.

Edward Alexander Prentice was born on April 14, 1832, in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.

He was an investment banker and financial agent. Educated in Edinburgh, he started to work at the Royal Bank of Scotland. In 1854, he moved to Montreal, Quebec, where he entered the Bank of Montreal. In 1864, he became the head of the Mercantile and Exchange Bank agency in Montreal. He became a prominent member of the Stock Exchange. He negotiated important sales of real estate and mining properties and a large Government loan in 1875. He was a founder of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Montreal. In 1872, he was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. Around 1876 he moved to England, where he got interested in the channel tunnel between England and France.

In 1856, he married Eweretta Jane Auldjo (1830–1898). He died on November 17, 1886, in London, England.

He is a Canadian literary critic, journalist, editor, and educator. He is presently the Dean of Arts and Social Services at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, British Columbia. As a nationally recognized literary critic, Precosky has written many articles for such journals as Canadian Literature in Review, Canadian Poetry, and the Web Journal of Contemporary Canadian Poetry and Poetics. He edited and wrote the introduction to “Four Realities: Poets of Northern BC” (1992), an anthology of four northern writers - Barry McKinnon, Barbara Munk, Ken Belford, and George Stanley (2002). He is also the author of the books "College of New Caledonia in Prince George" (1980), "Canadian Poetry in English, 1910-1925: The Beginnings of Modernism" (1978), "W.W.E. Ross and His Works" (1987) and a memoir "Truck stop nights" (2016).
