His career brought him to McGill University following that. He was involved with Council Canada, 1939-1940, and was an assistant professor of genetics at the University of Alberta from 1940-1942. A genetics researcher, he was a member of the American Genetics Association and the International Society of Plant Morphologists, served as president of the International Congress of Genetics, and acted as a consultant for the Montreal Children's Hospital.
