Note on the back of the photo reads: "General view at the unveiling of the Goodwill Fountain on the campus of McGill University, in Montreal, Canada, recently. The sculptured group is the work of Mrs. Gertrude Whitney and the gift of prominent American citizens and educators as a gesture of friendship between the United States and Canada. Dr. John H. Finley, New York Times Editor, is shown above, delivering the presentation address. The statue was received by Lord Bessborough, Canada's new Governor-General" along with a stamped date: "Jun 13 1931."
