McGill's papers are of both a personal and a business nature. Personal materials consist of almanacs, 1801, 1802, 1812, containing short, dry diary notes; a power of attorney from McGill to Duncan Cameron, 1809; photocopies of two letters to his business associates John Askin and Isaac Todd, 1812; and copies of his will, 1813. His business interests are represented by the journal of the firm of James and Andrew McGill, 1797-1814. Four documents concerning McGill's property and its boundaries, 1798, 1803 are contained in McGill University Administrative Records, Record Group 4, c.437-c.438.

Fonds contains manuscript of "Cours de réligion en vers," 1797.

Masonic certificate for John Hall from the Franklin Lodge no. 6, Hanover, New Hampshire, certifying that he holds the degree of Master and Senior Deacon. With a masonic seal and ribbon, and significant decorative illustrations.

Papers (13) on Newton Township & the boundary between Upper & Lower canada, including a surveyor's procès-verbal, a petition to R.S. Milnes (draught), to and correspondence with W.Fortune, S.Gale, H.W. Ryland, J. Sewell, W.Vondenvelden, J. de Longueuil and Governor Prescott.

Contract containing the conditions of sale for a plot of land in Coteau St. Louis by Etienne Brazeau, master mason, to Charles J. Morrison, Ann [Susanne] Morrison, and James Morrison on behalf of his minor daughters Charlotte and Harriet Morrison. Brazeau was unable to sign, so affixed his mark instead. Witnessed by Ignace Cliche.

This file contains a diary kept by Christina Barbara Hall between 21 October 1797 and 8 November 1798. Diary entries concern weather and daily activities, especially social engagements.
