Bill of sale of enslaved man, 2 March 1772

Bill of sale for a 25-year-old enslaved Black man named Cesar. He was sold to James Morrison by traffickers Jacob Thomas and John Fulton of Duchess County, New York. Witnessed by Asher Granger and H.C. McCord.

Invoice for wages of boat crews, 16 December 1786

Invoice for the wages of crew-members of two boats charged to James Morrison for a voyage made to Carleton Island. Signed by Pierre Meziere, lawyer. A previous inventory identifies the crew members as voyageurs and the boats as canoes, with four people per boat - a steersman, a lead, and two middle crew members.

Receipt for delivery of bell, 13 February 1786

Note requesting delivery of bell belonging to the government to Capt. Barnes Depty Qaur. Mas. General, left in the care of James Morrison by Jane Richardson. Receipt of bell signed on verso by Barnes.

Contract for construction of cider press, 24 November 1795

Document containing an agreement between Michael Neveu, master carpenter, and James Morrison for the construction of a wooden cider press on Morrison's land on the mountain. Includes acknowledgement that Neveu has received 5 piastres of his promised payment of 190 pounds.

Letters to Mackenzie, Oldham & Co.

Includes four letters sent to Mackenzie, Oldham & Co. The first letter requests that the Quebec merchants Burns & Woolsey hire a vessel for trade with Newfoundland. The second mentions waiting for the boat and articles paid by Caldwell, Fraser & Co. The third relates to the proper form of the certificates for half the pay of Capt. Osborne and Lieut. Fraser. The fourth relates to the contract for flour and mentions John Well(e)s who has just arrived with information that the Treaty of Trade & Commerce between Great Britain and the United States had been signed in London on Dec. 31st.
