Research (experiment) notebooks.
Sub-series A-1 contains experiment notebooks from the Chemistry Laboratory, Cambridge, concerning the study of stereochemistry. Of special relevance are the experiments pertaining to the optical activity caused by the restriction of the rotation of a trivalent nitrogen atom. It includes material produced at the Sir William Dunn Institute of Biochemistry related to oxidation reduction systems with particular relevance to the reduction of glutathione and the study of peroxidases in milk and horseradishes. This sub-series is comprised of 4 files (files no. 1 to 4), which are arranged chronologically.
Research (experiment) notebooks.
Sub-series A-3 contains experiment notebooks from the Montreal Neurological Institute, concerning experiments on brain swelling as a result of head injury and neurosurgery. Brain slices were examined to determine the effect of aerobic and anaerobic metabolism of electrolytes, pH, oxygen tension, narcotics and convulsants. Of special relevance is the experiment measuring the acetylcholine (Ach) content of cat and rat brains. This sub-series is comprised of 14 files (files nos. 34 to 47), which are arranged chronologically.
