Letter to William Osler from Henry Mills Hurd, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Although Hurd is upset by the news of Osler leaving Baltimore, he understands that Osler has been pushing himself too hard and needed to slow down. Hurd himself has thought of resigning. He explains that the Johns Hopkins Tuberculosis Dispensary is short on money and wonders if he should ask Mr. Phipps to make a donation. He believes that the success of the Hospital and of the Medical School has been largely Osler's achievement.

Letter to William Osler from William Sydney Thayer, 406, Cathedral Street, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Sends him a small copy of the medallion. Finds it good, although he thinks they have put his brother Ezra's nose. Season's greetings. Concerning Osler's request for paper for the historical section, he had offered a paper which he supposes is on the program on "The Study of the Renal Function." Instead of acceding to his request, he is asking him to take this paper off, because he expects to have been made chairman of the national committee in the USA and will not have time to read his paper. Mentions that despite of that, he will try to take part in the discussions. Civilities.

Letter to William Osler from Adolf Meyer, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Due to some schedule restriction from Kraepelin who can only be there if he leaves for Europe on the 19th of April, he is asking him to arrange to give the address for the opening of the Phipps Psychiatric Clinic before his Yale lectures. The public opening ceremony would be on April 16th. Details on the schedule of the events. Lists of the people who have sent their acceptances. Hopes Osler could arrange to fit his plan. If not, they will have to sacrifice Kraepelin, whom Phipps would like to be present. The opening then would be deferred until about May 1st, and the other persons might have to drop out on account of their university duties. Civilities.

Letter to William Osler from Adolf Meyer, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Regrets that Kraepelin had to withdraw. It is necessary, however, from the point of view of other visitors, especially Prof. Bleuler, to keep the date of April 16th to 18th. Glad this arrangement suits him. Mentions that Phipps would have become impatient about the delays. Positive comments on the topic chosen by Osler for the opening address. Civilities.
