The fonds consists of 1 photograph of Dr. T. F. Cotton, undated; a certificate of admission to membership of the Royal College of Physicians, London, 29 April 1920; a certificate of Fellowship in the R. C. P., London, 14 May 1931; a Honorary D.Sc., McGill, 5 October 1946; a diploma of the Order of the White Lion V class bestowed by the President of the Czechoslovak Republic, 12 January 1948; and covering letter from the Czech Ambassador, 18 October 1948.

The fonds consists of consulting papers and some printed material of Peter Hamilton Riordon (Ph.D. 1952).

The fonds includes two McGill University hand-books, 1913-1914 and 1914-1915 with brief notes referring to his activities as a student; three booklets of notes taken in Embryology, [191?], Histology, 1914 and one [unspecified] booklet of notes, [191?]. A newspaper clipping from the Chronicle: “The Kaiser and the Lusitania: Torpedoed against his wishes,” August 13, 1917; inventory from the Imperial War Museum of “The Papers of Mrs. G. S. Prichard” (mother to Prichard) relating to the correspondence between Mrs. Prichard and survivors of the Lusitania in search for news of her son during the sinking; Royal Bank of Canada Pass Book from Ewing, Alberta with records of Prichard’s cheque book activities from 1912-1914; a letter detailing investments (on McGill letterhead) dated January 22, 1914, is included inside the Royal Bank Pass Book.

The emphasis of the Maxwell archive is the period from William Sutherland's entry into his brother's firm as a partner until Edward's death in 1923. This period is marked by the firm's most ambitious projects which combined Edward's Late Victorian Romanticism with William's Beaux-Arts inspired classicism, with distinctive results. The Montreal-based firm continued to generate buildings for its influential local clients among whom were Charles Hosmer, Henry Vincent Meredith, James T. Davis and the Ross family. The brothers' more substantial non-residential projects, and their most enduring, include the additions and alterations to the Château Frontenac in Quebec City, the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina, and locally, the Montreal High School and the Church of the Messiah.

Le fonds Maxwell témoigne essentiellement de la période au cours de laquelle Edward et William Sutherland furent associés, soit jusqu'au décès d'Edward en 1923. C'est de cette période que datent les projets les plus ambitieux du cabinet, où se trouvent conjugués le romantisme de la fin de l'ère victorienne dont s'inspirait Edward et le classicisme dérivé des Beaux-Arts qui marquait le style de William. Le cabinet, établi à Montréal, réalisa de nombreux projets pour le compte de clients prestigieux, dont Charles Hosmer, Henry Vincent Meredith, James T. Davis et la famille Ross.
