The fonds consists of the records of the Zoological Society of Montreal for the entirety of its existence, from 1964-2016. These records were generated in the pursuit of the Zoological Society’s goal to enhance public awareness of wildlife conservation issues through speakers, film screenings, field trips, special events, and large projects. The records also reflect the Society's charity to zoological, ecological and conservation causes. The administration of the Society, its interactions with its members, and its projects and events are documented through minutes, correspondence, communications, published articles, financial documents, reports, and proposals. The Society’s interests and activities are also reflected through books, objects from their offices, audio and video materials, and 5243 photographs, most of which are stored in photo albums. The fonds also contains the records of the Zoological Society of Canada, which were created to administer the Canadian Society similarly to the Montreal Society, with the goal of expanding the organization’s reach nationally.

The fonds is comprised of the following series: 1) Activities (1965-2013); 2) Administration (1964-2016); 3) Artifacts (1980-2004); 4) Books (1967-1991); and 5) Newsletters (1967-2016).

The collection documents the life of Katsuji Nakashima since his arrival in Canada in 1909. The material consists of a personal handwritten journal written on rice paper in ancient Japanese; a Dominion of Canada certificate of Naturalization issued in 1919; a passport issued by the Imperial Japanese Government (1921); invitations, bills and other ephemeral items (ca. 1910-1945); military photographs; an Internment Camp Ration Book; and other personal documents reflecting the civilian and military activities of Katsuji Nakashima. The collection also contains personal belongings such as Buddhist prayer items.

The Alice Johannsen fonds reflects her lifelong involvement in nature, museums, community and her fealty towards her father, Herman-Smith (Jackrabbit) Johannsen. It consists of three series; personal and family series, 1994 to 1991, the Redpath series, 1919-1971 and a professional activities series, 1919-1971.

Fonds consists of two undated architectural drawings and one photograph of Drummond Street houses, taken approximately 1890. Architectural drawings are elevations of two houses located on Drummond Street in Montreal, designed for Mr. Lighthall.

Fonds consists of architectural drawings (1961) and 2 photographs forming part of a project prepared for the United Nations for low-cost asbestos roof-tiling. A four-page application (1967) for low-cost roofing is also included. Ortega's personal library (713 cm) also comprises part of the fonds. These books and periodicals relate mainly to Ortega's professional interests such as low cost housing, building materials, water and sanitation, the environment and energy. 287 slides relate to Ortega's on-going concerns on lost-cost housing, building materials, construction methods and alternative sources of energy.

Eight projects are documented by 119 architectural drawings (1934-1964), among them designs for buildings for the Old Brewery Mission's summer camp at Lake Chapleau, PQ, alterations to St. Andrew's United Church in Westmount and alterations to Bethel United Church in Grand'Mère, QC. Eight photographs (1945-1964) show additions and alterations to the summer house of C. V. Howard at Lake Anne, QC, and alterations to the Bethel United Church. The fonds also contains professional papers dating between 1941 and 1964, including correspondence, clippings, pamphlets, receipts and invoices relating to seven projects are found in the archive. The projects include the design of buildings for the Old Brewery Mission's summer camp and alterations to Bethel United Church.
