This series contains several of Dr. Penfield's personal appointment diaries, and several diaries of his wife, Helen Kermott Penfiedl. It also currently includes a photograph album from 1913-1916, a scrapbook from Dr. Penfield's time at Galahad School (1905), some miscellaneous material collected by Dr. William Feindel concerning Dr. Penfield and the Montreal Neurological Institute, and an old reprint mailing list compiled by Dr. Penfield.

Sub-series consists of bound appointment diaries used by Dr. Penfield to kep track of both his personal and professional engagements between 1930 and 1976.

Documents related to the production of research data.

Raw data in the form of computer-printed tables constitutes much of the series, with some statistical summaries and graphical presentations of data. Many files contain autoradiograph negatives of rat brains.

Documents related to the publication of Pappius’s research. Some lab data is present insofar as Pappius included it directly in the creation of the publication.

Documents related to the administrative management of the research groups Pappius participated in.

Subseries consists of the file of the speaker selected for the John P. McGovern Lecture.The presentation of the speaker is published afterwards in the John P. McGovern Lecture Series of the American Osler Society. Typical file includes correspondence, notification of selection, curriculum vitae, guidelines, presentation, manuscript, galley proofs, and drafts.

Subseries consists of records regarding the project of restoration of Sir William Osler’s house at #13 Norham Gardens in Oxford and the refurbishing of the library and other memorabilia in the house. The three files pertain to the funding of the project with a grant from the Commonwealth Fund and contain correspondence of the Green College committee as well as the correspondence with Sir John Walton. Includes correspondence, newsletter, permissions and a grant request.

Subseries consists of one file containing the American Osler Society newsletter, The Oslerian and accompanying material sent as mail-outs to members, including letters to members and reprints of articles and essays published by members or of interest to Oslerians and historians of medicine.

This sub-series consists of both original diaries of Wilder Penfield and photocopies of original diaries made by Jefferson Lewis in the course of his research. More precisely, the diaries dating from 1906 to 1914 are originals; those for subsequent years are photocopies of diaries left by Penfield in the vault of the MNI and now part of the Wilder Penfield Archive (P142) held in the Osler Library Archives. These diaries contain an unparalleled personal chronicle of Penfield’s work, travels, encounters, and reflections. The original volumes from his youth provide unique insight into the development of his character and of his ambitions.

This sub-series contains newspaper clippings, photographs, and travel materials collected by Wilder Penfield, a group of war predictions for 1943 prepared by Wilder Penfield and his friends in 1942, and materials related to the ceremonial side of the MNI.
