Manuscripts

Series consists primarily of manuscripts in various stages of editing and publication, published by the Muses' Company. Also included are editors’ and authors’ notes, publicity materials, author correspondence, pamphlets, and photographs.

Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence regarding collecting and general correspondence. Incoming correspondence to Geraldine Cole from booksellers, often with accompanying materials, friends, librarians, printers, and fellow collectors and book enthusiasts. Includes some correspondence from charitable organizations soliciting donations, including the Thomas Bewick Birthplace Appeal. Letters are mostly originals, with some printed emails. Consists primarily of incoming correspondence, with some drafts of outgoing correspondence. One file consists of substantial correspondence with John Borden, including many appended photocopied articles and book descriptions.

Event programs and publicity

This series consists of event programs, posters and articles published in the media and in journals about Bernard Gagnon performances.

Artifacts

The series consists of several objects that were used in the administration of the Society, or displayed in their offices. This series also contains some textual records and photographs, which arrived with the objects in this series. Some arrived framed, mounted or with tape on them, indicating they may have been mounted on the walls of the office. While some objects were used in the daily operations of the Society, the mounted objects in this series signal the Society’s accomplishments.

Conference papers and lectures

The largest and most comprehensive series is conference papers and lectures with most of the presentations taking place in Canada, Australia and the United States, many with separate speech and shorter slide summaries. The subjects covered include AIDS, medical ethics, and euthanasia, and reflect the range of Somerville’s interest in ethical issues.

Publications

Series consists of three subseries: P125/J1 Persisting Osler, P125/J2 American Osler Society, inc. : Biographical Directory, P125/J3 The Oslerian, pertaining to the publishing activities of the American Osler Society. Series includes correspondence, notes, working plan, photographs, quotations from printers, working sheets, curriculum vitae, bibliographies and biographic forms, newsletters and reprints.
