Publications and associations

This series is formed of publications and other materials concerning various medical and history of medicine associations and organizations, including correspondence between Dr. Segall and others about such associations and organizations.

Professional correspondence

The series consists of professional correspondence, including both incoming and outgoing letters to Abbott and sent by her. Many letters discuss specific cases and autopsies. Letters are often accompanied by reprints, notes, electrocardiograms, and photographs.

Medical meeting programmes

Series contains a collection of programmes from medical meetings, mostly those of associations. Some programmes note Maude Abbott's participation. Some are accompanied by related ephemera, including letters, invitations, or publications.

Family and personal correspondence

Series consists chiefly of letters between Maude Abbott and her sisters, as well as other personal correspondence. One correspondent represented in the series is Dr. C. F. Martin, a McGill physician who was a friend and advisor to Abbott. Other correspondemts include Lady Osler, Archibald Malloch, Walter Chipman, Thomas McCrae, and Lady Drummond. Two letters exist from W. W. F. Francis. Two letters related to the No. 3 Canadian General Hospital (with correspondents H. S. Birkett and Edward Archibald).

Manuscripts, drafts, and research ephemera

Series consists of bundles of manuscripts, drafts, some research-related correspondence, and other research materials. Many files between 103-213 are transcriptions or photocopies of research materials Abbott made, many from Canadian archives, during the course of her research into the history of medicine in Canada.

Accession 606

This accession contains a collection of manuscripts, slides, drawings, correspondence, reprints, photographs, case reports, post-mortem records, and exhibition panels (mainly related to congenital heart disease), as well as a valedictory address, autobiographical sketch, and poems.

Constitution and Structure.

Series consists of four subseries: P125/A1 History (1972 and 1987), P125/A2 Charters and Certificate of Incorporation (1975-1977), P125/A3 Constitution and By-Laws (1970-1982), and P125/A4 Seal (1970). Includes a presentation, correspondence, forms, by-laws, statements, seal, a franchise tax report and a certificate of incorporation.
