Sketchbook

The second of the pocket sketchbooks belonging to E. D. Worthington. It contains the pencil caricatures of John Goodsir, Knox and Alex Munro. Their location in the book has been indicated with tabs by W. W. Francis. There are some pages of notes taken from his lectures and pieces copied from the Bible. Handwritten.

The first of two Edinburgh student notebooks belonging to Edward Dagge Worthington. It consists mainly of pencil caricatures. This volume contains a drawing of Dr. Robertson of Montreal, one of Knox (labelled by E.D.W.) and two of himself. The location of the sketches has been indicated by W. W. Francis's tabs. There are also pages of notes on such things as definitions, courses taken, and a list of baggage. Handwritten.

Letter

Letter from Col. Pearkes to Col. Worthington on the letterhead of the Department of National Defence, Ottawa, Canada. Col. Pearkes thanks Col. Worthington for sending him Col. Molson's treatise on court marshals. The paper is cut in half. Typed.

Excerpt from the Minutes of the College of Surgeons. On Sept. 24, a letter from a Robert Henry Russell is read. On Feb. 3 Worthington's application is recommended by the President's Council and unanimously granted. Handwritten.

Letter from Thomas Smith, Quebec. There is no salutation. This is to certify that E. D. Worthington has been attached to the army in Canada as acting Assistant Surgeon for the past 18 months. The Staff Surgeon describes his work habits as being attentive and diligent. Handwritten.

Certificate issued by the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh to Edward D. Worthington stating that he had an Annual ticket for the hospital dated 1st Nov. 1841-1st Nov. 1842 and that he signed the Album for nine periods. It is signed by A. McDougall. Handwritten.
