Correspondence

This sub-series contains letters collected and kept by Helen Kermott Penfield. The bulk of these letters are from Wilder Penfield. Penfield wrote to Helen almost every second day, sending her detailed accounts of life at Princeton and Oxford, as well as extensive descriptions on his personal outlook and inner life. Helen preserved these letters in meticulous order. This sub-series also contains letters from Helen’s mother and grandmother among others. Finally, this sub-series contains a great number of condolences received following the death of Wilder Penfield.

Correspondence

This sub-series consists of correspondence regarding the funding, research, writing and publication of Something Hidden, and its spin-off film. This series also contains a few letters sent by Lewis to acquaintances of the Penfield’s, who responded to Lewis’ request by returning material sent by the Penfield’s to others and retrieved by Lewis by request. This series also contains a small amount of correspondence concerning the Penfield property at Magog Meadows.

Correspondence.

Sub-series D-1 contains correspondence of Dr. Elliott concerning topics of various natures. This sub-series includes research notes, newspaper clippings, manuscripts, and typescripts of speeches. This sub-series is comprised of 48 files (nos. 76 to 133), which are arranged alphabetically.

Correspondence

This sub-series consists of letters exchanged between Wilder Penfield and his family, friends, and acquaintances. The correspondence is of a general and family nature, but covers many aspects of Penfield’s life, including his financial affairs, the indemnity sought for injuries sustained in the Sussex disaster, contacts with medical and scientific men, personal friendships, and a few letters regarding his partnership with Dr. William Cone. A small amount of professional correspondence also appears in this sub-series.

Subseries contains documents of the program committee, correspondence regarding the organization and the logistic for the annual meeting, the invitations, the general information, regrets and thank you notes. Includes correspondence, drafts, preliminary programs, ballots, flyers, newspaper clippings, reprints, press release, function orders.

Correspondence regarding Family Matters

The sub-series contains eleven files of correspondence between Vineberg and members of his family or correspondence pertaining to them. The files are arranged alphabetically.

Includes correspondence, bills, sympathy cards, advertisements, telegrams and one copy of a lecture.

Correspondence with Members

Subseries contains correspondence sent by the Secretary-Treasurer to the members about the activities of the association. Includes circular letters, membership lists, membership proposals, minutes and reprints.

Correspondence with publishers

Subseries contains two files of correspondence about Vineberg's publications. The first file contains requests for reprints sent by other doctors to Vineberg and the second one contains correspondence between Vineberg and publishers and editors. Includes correspondence and cards of requests of reprints.

Correspondence/Domestic

Sub-series includes all of Dr. Penfield's "correspondence-domestic", or personal correspondence, which was taken from his office at the Montreal Neurological Institute. This sub-series includes material which Dr. Penfield had collected before arriving at McGill in 1928. In particular, it includes correspondence between Dr. Penfield and his wife, Helen Kermott Penfield.
