Medical apparatuses

This series consists primarily of various medical apparatuses, 3 voice recording machines, 4 electrocardiogram recording machines, magnetic recordings, audiograph recordings, and glass slides.

History of medicine research

This series consists of notes and collected documents related to Dr. Segall's History of medicine research. This material includes records related to his various history research projects including his N.S. Korotkov book (1980), "Pioneers of Cardiology," material concerning the Osler Library of the History of Medicine, and correspondence with other medical historians.

Correspondence with literary friends

The series of literary correspondence consists of letters exchanged between William Weintraub and Mavis Gallant (127 letters), Brian Moore (603 letters) and Mordecai Richler (210 letters). These constitute a major source for the study of three prominent Canadian writers in the last half of the twentieth century. In addition, there are copies of 280 letters from Weintraub to Moore and 123 copies of letters from Weintraub to Richler. While the Gallant correspondence dates primarily from 1980s with only 8 letters from 1950-1951, the Moore and Richler correspondence is continuous from the 1950s. This latter correspondence reveals the close involvement of Weintraub in the development of the work of both Moore and Richler.

Reports, reprints, and miscellanea

This series consists of diverse materials about Black history and culture, mostly in Canada, chiefly created in the 1970s. Some of the documents are informational or advocacy materials regarding Black-majority countries and communities outside Canada. There are numerous files related to both the Black National Coalition of Canada and Festac '77. There are also some materials about other ethnic minority communities. These materials are in variety of formats including studies, reports, typescripts, historical document reproductions, informational index cards, and concert advertisements and play programs. In some cases, the items lack context, such as a clear indication of their author or of the purpose for which they were created.

Conference and Meeting Materials

This series consists of materials which pertain to conferences and meetings. It includes programs, agendas, announcements, and guides; the full texts or the summaries of speeches, addresses and presentations; handouts and related materials; minutes of meetings; and reports and articles about meetings. Many of the items are single documents; some are envelopes containing an assortment of materials relating to a particular conference or meeting or event.

Photographs

The photographs in the Nobbs archive document some of his architectural projects including urban domestic architecture, renovations to the interior of Christ Church Cathedral in Montreal, McGill's MacDonald Engineering Building, a proposal for Winnipeg City Hall and a proposal for a war memorial at Lille in France. Documented are plans, exteriors and interiors, models, buildings under construction and perspectives. Included are five photograph albums.

Visual items and Reference Material, 1927-1959

Series D consists of photographs, postcards, slides, x-rays, and other visual material and artifacts such as copper printing plates. The visual material is located within other series, particularly the Correspondence Series A, but described individually here.
