Larry Longo

Series consists of two sets of correspondence related to the AOS during Longo’s appointments of Member, Executive Council 1981-1985, 1987- present, Secretary Treasurer 1988-2000, Second Vice President 2001, First Vice President 2001-2002, President 2002-2003. P125/N1 is in chronological order (1985-2003; 1999 Osler Society meeting in Montreal); P125/N2 is in alphabetical order (K-Z). (series in order received, added, 2006)

Series consists of four subseries: P125/D1 Budget, P125/D2 Gifts and Donations, P125/D3 Tax Status and P125/D4 Financial Statements.

Correspondence

Correspondence unrelated to specific activity. Correspondents are predominantly colleagues at the MNI/H or other researchers. Most files contain both received correspondence and carbon copies of outgoing correspondence.

Archives

Series consists of documents relating to the establishment of the Osler Library of History of Medicine of McGill University as the repository of the archives of the American Osler Society and to the classification of these archives. Series includes correspondence and a classification plan.

William B. Bean Student Research Award

Series consists of two subseries, P125/G1 William B. Bean Student Research Award committee documents and P125/G2 Candidates Files containing records created by the committee administering this program. This research studentship has been developed to support research in the broad areas of medical history and medical humanism. The successful applicant may be eligible to present a paper based on his findings at the annual meeting of the American Osler Society. Series includes correspondence, report, copy of last will and testament, application forms, drafts of announces, request of information, research proposals, curriculum vitae and bibliographies, letter of appraisal and notification of award.

Special Projects

Series is divided in three subseries: P125/K1 Osler Bust, P125/K2 Survey on the American Osler Society: its Goals – its Future, P125/K3 Synopsis of presentations given at American Osler Society Meetings beginning with 1998. Series includes correspondence, questionnaires, drafts, working notes, compilation, graphics, a membership list, a synopsis, a presentation, a compendium of the world’s Oslerian society presentations with rare annotations and a brief history of the various Oslerian clubs. Added 2006, Subject Index to American Osler Society Presentations, April 14, 2002. -0.3 cm of textual records.

Professional organizations

Documents concerning Pappius’s membership in professional organizations and non-remunerative work undertaken outside of her roles at the MNI/H.

Teaching

Documents concerning Pappius’s teaching activities, predominantly advising and serving on committees of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. Some material related to teaching courses.

Events

This series includes records of events, biographical and historical data, and many visual materials. Much of this material is ephemeral and was originally found in Dr. Penfield and Mrs. Penfield's boxes of memorabilia. The series is divided into 15 subseries, each of which may be grouped into two divisions: general and personal (indicated by addition of WGP to file identifier).
