File includes twelve documents plus bill of lading to Mackenzie, Oldham & Co. These business letters discuss importing and exporting of read, flour, molasses, sugar, rum, beef, etc., and trade with the West Indies. There is some mention of the conflict between Canada and the U.S. and how it affected business.

Documents on Canadian unification

File consists of documents and a letter concerning support for the union of Upper and Lower Canada. Included are: a draft of a letter from the Seigneuries of Terrebonne, Mille Isles, Argenteuil and the Township of Chatham, to the committee in Montreal regarding pre-union petition; a copy of the petition in favor of the union of the provinces, from the counties of Effingham, York, Chatham and Argenteuil (this possibly accompanied the above described letter); a letter from G(eorge) Moffatt to unknown recipient giving his opinion on the wording of the petition; a draft of a section of the petition; another draft of the petition, from the county of Effingham (probably incomplete); and a printed document titled, "A Bill for Re-uniting the Provinces of Upper and Lower Canada, and for the Government of the United Province. Ordered by the House of Commons."

Documents on the legacy of Simon McTavish

File contains three documents relating to the legacy of Simon McTavish, including: a memorial of Simon McTavish addressed to the Lieut. Gov. of Lower Canada (Robert Shore Milnes); the Last Will and Testament of Simon McTavish (copy produced on or after 1807); and a document containing five points respecting the Last Will and Testament of the late Simon McTavish submitted to the opinion of counsel (the document is a copy prepared by John Fraser).

Documents on the seigneury de Terrebonne

File includes a memorandum on the Seigneury of Terrebonne, with a letter and four letter transcripts addressed to Roderick Mackenzie. The memorandum reads: "Memorandum respecting the Seigniory of Terrebonne informing proprietors to apply to Mr. Plante to determine the amount of taxes owed on the third concession of the Seigniory, noting that the amount due should be increased from what was previously paid by Mr. Jordan." Also included is a letter concerning the sale of the seigneury of Terrebonne to Mackenzie and later annulment and 4 transcripts of letters from Reid to Mackenzie regarding the seigneury of Terrebonne dating from 12 August 12 1816 to 19 February 19 1819.

Documents related to death of Roderick Mackenzie

File includes five documents effected after the death of Roderick Mackenzie, including: a draft of Mackenzie's obituary; an invoice for the purchase of mourning goods; an affidavit testifying to the authenticity of Mackenzie's "testament olographe (holographic testament)" and requesting, on behalf of his widow, that the testament be executed; four documents detailing the division of Mackenzie's estate; and one-year lease for 12 Beaver Hall Terrace made out to Mackenzie's widow.

Documents related to the ship "Rachel"

File includes accounts and documents relating to the ship Rachel. Included are four accounts showing wages paid to four different sailors, including a first mate and master, on board the Rachel, 1810-1811; a 6-page account showing purchases made for the Rachel between January 1811 and September 17, 1812; a document listing the inventory on the Rachel with assigned values (items belonging to the ship, not cargo, 1810-1811) ; a document titled, "A List of Seamen's Wages on Board Brig Rachel," 1811-1813; and an Account of the Rachel for goods purchased from John Dunscomb & Co., 1812-1813.

Documents relating to address to Sir James Craig

File consists of two items, including a letter from Sir James Craig to the inhabitants of Terrebonne and a draft of an address to Craig from the "loyal subjects, inhabitants of Terrebonne." This document is a patriotic address attacking the House of Assembly in support of the government. The petition was signed by 173 inhabitants of Terrebonne.
