Artifacts

This series contains artifacts created by McGill University or created by commercial manufacturers for McGill between roughly 1800 and 2015. Many items in this series are undated.

This series is described at the item level. Includes medals, pins, tobacco tins and humidors, trophies, bottles and mugs, commemorative spoons, matchbooks, and other objects.

Photographs

This series is composed of photographs relating to Sharma and other prominent figures in his life, which include Ingeleier Kemp Asen and Caroline Coombes. Most of the photographs of Sharma are from his academic endeavours.

Biographical records

This series documents Sharma’s personal life including academic pursuits, recommendation letters, objects, gifts, travel records, financial records, personal documentation and a selection of miscellaneous items.

Correspondence

Series consists of Sharma’s personal correspondence (to friends, acquaintances, family); professional correspondence (to universities, publishers, journals, academics, critics); and correspondence of an ephemeral nature (letters of thanks, invitation, seasonal greetings). This series also includes several untranslated letters which did not have identifiable handwriting or dates.

Media Relations

This media relations series documents Somerville’s many and varied interactions with the media through contact lists, articles, interviews, personal publicity files, and photographs by Barbara Woodley.

Administration

This series incorporates the activities and functions of the University Club of Montreal at the administrative level. Included in this series are correspondences, event flyers, newsletters, memos, notices, reciprocal club membership invitations and agreements, newspaper clippings, club events and ceremonies, guest registers, internal club organizational documents, room booking schedules, illustrations, photographs, objects such as stamps, medal ribbons, and a map.

The Wilder Penfield Archive

This series documents William Feindel’s work as curator of the Wilder Penfield Archive. Among the materials are photographs, requests for materials and access to photographs, and documentation related to commemorative events.

This series documents Sharma's presence and reception in his field, notably through awards, and newspapers which offer critique or praise.

Committees

This series illustrates a wide array of activities and functions through the various committees and subcommittees of the University Club of Montreal. Included in this series are meeting minutes but also include a large amount of documents relating to building restoration reports, servitude agreements, memorandums, correspondences, interview transcripts, drafts of the University Club of Montreal history book, membership lists and reports, overhead slides, newspaper clippings, photographs, architectural and technical drawings, moving images materials and electronic materials pertaining to the building renovation, and cassette tapes used for interviews.
