The Penfield fonds consists of over eighty metres of Penfield's personal and professional records dating from his childhood up until his death in 1976, including during his career at the Montreal Neurological Institute. The materials in the fonds include photographs, correspondence, manuscripts and drafts of publications and speeches, research notes, glass slides, bound reports, films, and academic gowns.
The file contains correspondence on topics including the lunch with the Russian Delegation at the Royal Victoria Hospital; a report ‘The Montreal Neurological Institute Comes of Age’, 1955-1956; a Joint Hospital campaign notice, 1956; and the transfusion service.
The file contains 1 bound volume of ‘The Montreal Neurological Institute 1951, an administrative study’ by Basil C. MacLean, M.D., M.P.H. and George William Graham, M.D. from the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital. In addition, there is commentary by Wilder Penfield, J. Kershman and E. Flanagan on the report.
The file contains correspondence about Child Neurology Research and includes a program, a report from the Director, and the Advisory Committee for the Child Neurology Research Council.
